"Doing the greatest good, for the
greatest number of people"

DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) is looking for volunteers to help expand their C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) program.

Local governments prepare everyday for emergencies.  However during a disaster, the number and scope of incidents can overwhelm conventional emergency services.  Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) is a FREE risk and hazard awareness training available to you through DEMA.  This valuable course is designed to help you protect yourself, your family and your immediate community in the event of a major situation in your neighborhood.

C.E.R.T. is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens may initially be on their own and their actions can and do make a difference.  While people will respond to others in need without the training, one goal of the C.E.R.T. program is to help them do so effectively and efficiently without placing themselves in unnecessary danger, therefore minimizing ones the risk of bodily injury and simply becoming another victim.

You will receive training in the areas of:
* Disaster Preparedness
* Fire Safety
* Medical Operations and Basic First Aid
* Search & Rescue
* AUTISM Awareness
and much more...
