Just Another Website...but it's mine!

I've used "MacAtk" as my moniker for many years.  During the time when Mark McGuire was tops in the baseball world, everything associated with "Mac Attack" was sucked-up.  Recently just for grinnies, I tried this domain name and now, here it is!

Being an habitual volunteer, I will use this site simply to promote the civilian volunteer organizations for whom I support.  I work with several local and state-wide volunteer groups and in these days of belt tightening and budget cuts, I am not ashamed to ask for support from others as I feel these are worthy and truly honest causes that benefit the community.  I do what I can and try to prod others to do the same.

Below is a list of agencies I put my time and efforts toward.  You can click on any of the names to go directly to their websites.  I cannot afford to donate much money but I try to find creative ways to raise funds for these groups.  From selling T-shirts, hats & decals, to simply designing, hosting and maintaining (for free!) simple websites as reference, so others can learn of these fine organizations.  Many people have the true desire to participate but are unable for many reason, so they simply support with cash donations (that's just as Awesome!).  I would like to ask for that type of support from you or through people and organizations you may know and work with.

Georgia State Defense Force
Georgia State
Defense Force

(GA's Volunteer State Guard)
I joined the GSDF in November 2001.  The GSDF is a 100% Volunteer, non-arms baring force and the third branch of the GA Dept. of Defense (Army Guard, Air Guard & SDF).  We directly supports the GA National Guard by providing skilled personnel to fill positions left vacant by deployed National Guard, but strictly in support roles such as administrative, medical and IT support (to name only a few.)  The GSDF receives little to no financial support from the State of GA, as monies allotted to the DoD are needed primarily by the GA Army and Air Guards to protect our state.  So we are left to not only donate our time, buy our own uniforms, boots and equipment but to also help raise funds in support of the force.  I do this in small part by selling T-shirts, Decals, Challenge Coins and Polo Shirts displaying the GSDF name & logo (http://GSDF-Tshirts.com) and donating the proceeds back to the force.

82nd Airborne Assoc.
I was made an Honorary Membership in this wonderful organization in 2003, through a couple contacts I'd made in the GSDF.  I brought to the group a desperately needed talent of web design, though basic as it may be.  Though basic as it is, I created a web-presence for this 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  When I joined, most of the active members were WWII vets.  Since then, too many have passed away.  I am honored to be included in with these American Heroes and they have earned and deserve your support.
DeKalb County E.M.A.
DeKalb Co. Emergency
Management Agency
(DEMA) CERT
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.   Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.   CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
DeKalb County Fire Rescue Reserve
DeKalb Co. Fire
Rescue Reserve
The Fire Rescue Reserve is another civilian volunteer organization in DeKalb Co., that is trained to support DeKalb County Fire Rescue personnel, in "Cold-Zone" activities, at large active fire scenes.

And for anyone who was looking at this site wondering if the domain name was available, I will be happy to discuss selling.  Any proceeds will either directly or indirectly (depending on the price) support all the above organizations.  From the purchase of needed supplies and equipment, to hosting & domain name costs.
